Summer Reading Program

All ages can complete reading logs and other challenges for a chance to win prizes. The program is open from May 24 to August 2. The last day to pick up prizes is August 16. The last day to enter for the grand prize drawing is August 2.

Programming and Prizes

Select each age group below for information on programming and prizes.

Birth to 5

The Birth – 5 Summer Reading Program is simple this year – have daily fun with your little one while encouraging early literacy. Help your child get ready to read by focusing on five essential ready to read components; Read, Write, Talk, Sing, and Play. Follow along the adventures, and cross one off when completed.

Half-Way Point

Complete 15 adventures to receive a half-way point prize. You can choose between a GoGo Squeeze Apple Sauce pouch or Goldfish.

Finishers' Prizes

Complete the entire log to receive a finishers’ prize. You can choose between a noise maker, finger puppet, or bendable toy.

Grand Prize

Five randomly chosen finishers will be awarded a grand prize that consists of Crayola Washable Fingerpaint Kit, Crayola Silly Scents Mini Art Case, Learning Fun-damentals Reusable Sticker Book, Outdoor BINGO card, and I Love the Mountains by Haily Meyers board book.

Each finisher gets one entry into the grand prize drawing. Return completed logs by August 2nd to be entered to win a grand prize.

*The half-way point and finisher prizes are available while supplies last.

K-5th

Adventure Begins at Your Library! Kick off your reading adventure on May 24. For every 20 minutes you read, mark off a square on your reading log. As you track your reading down the treasure map, you will reach milestones for your hard work. Complete the log to claim your final prize.

Milestone Prizes

1 hour

Magnetic or Color in Bookmark (while supplies last)

5 hour

Activity Book or Notebook (while supplies last)

Teens

Challenge yourself to read 30 hours this summer! Each coin on the log represents 30 minutes and each level is 5 hours. For every five hours you read, you will earn a prize and a raffle entry to the grand prize drawing. Stop by your local library weekly to log reading and to check out new prizes. The last day to claim prizes is August 16.

Adults

Complete at least seven challenges for your chance to win prizes. Turn in your completed reading log at any Siouxland Libraries branch between May 24 and August 2 to redeem your finisher’s prize and earn an entry into the grand prize drawing. One log per participant.
