Summer Reading Program

All ages can complete reading logs and other challenges for a chance to win prizes while supplies last. The program is open from May 23 to August 15. For grand prize eligibility, the final day to log reading is August 17. Grand prize drawings will take place on August 18. The last day to pick up prizes is August 22, while supplies last.

How to Get a Prize

1. Track Your Reading

Track your reading online on the Summer Reading Program website, or download the ReadSquared app to log your reading.

- Download and print a reading log at home:

3. Turn your log in at any branch by August 18!

Programming and Prizes

Birth to 5

All five practices develop strong reading skills that are fundamental to a child's future success, foster healthy brain development, improve language skills, and promote family engagement. Stop by your local library throughout the summer to claim your prizes. Grand prize drawings will take place on August 18. The last day to claim prizes is August 22, while supplies last.

Reading Log

K-5th

Color Your World! Kick off your summer of reading on May 23. For every 20 minutes you read, mark off a square on your reading log. As you track your reading down the game board, you will reach milestones for your hard work at 1, 5, 10, 15 and 20 hours. Stop by your local library as you reach your milestones throughout summer to log your reading time and pick up your prizes, while supplies last. Prizes may change throughout the summer.

Teens

Challenge yourself to read 30 hours this summer! Each diamond on the log represents 30 minutes, and each island is 5 hours. For every five hours you read, you will earn a prize and a raffle entry to the grand prize drawing. Stop by your local library throughout the summer to log reading and to check out new prizes. Grand prize drawings will take place on August 18. The last day to claim prizes is August 22, while supplies last.

Color Your World at the library this summer. Pick up a reading log and complete 7 challenges to complete the program, earn an entry into a grand prize drawing, and choose your finisher prize. This year’s finisher choices are Siouxland Libraries pencil bag or an insulated soft cooler. The program is open from May 23 to August 15. The last day to pick up prizes is August 22. The last day to enter for the grand prize drawings will take place August 18.
