Summer Reading Program 2026

All ages can complete reading logs and other challenges for a chance to win prizes while supplies last. The program runs from May 22 to August 14. The final day to log reading is August 16. Grand prize drawings for Teens and Adults will take place on August 17. The last day to pick up prizes is August 21, while supplies last.

How to Get a Prize

1. Track Your Reading

Track your reading online on the Summer Reading Program website, or download the ReadSquared app to log your reading.

3. Turn your log in at any branch by August 16!

Programming and Prizes

Select each age group below for information on programming and prizes.

Birth to 5

Prepare your child for school by providing fun, interactive opportunities to explore and learn using five simple practices: reading, talking, writing, playing, and singing. All five practices develop strong reading skills that are fundamental to a child's future success, foster healthy brain development, improve language skills, and promote family engagement. Stop by your local library throughout the summer to claim your prizes. The last day to claim prizes is August 21, while supplies last.

Reading Log

K-5th

Kick off your summer of reading on May 22. For every 20 minutes you read, mark off a square on your reading log. As you track your reading, you will reach milestones for your hard work at 1, 5, 10, 15 and 20 hours. Stop by your local library throughout the summer to claim your prizes. The last day to pick up prizes is August 21, while supplies last. Prizes may change throughout the summer.

Teens

Challenge yourself to read 30 hours this summer! Each fossil on the log represents 30 minutes, and each island is 5 hours. Earn prizes as you reach reading milestones at 5, 10, 20 and 30 hours. Stop by your local library throughout the summer to log reading and to check out new prizes. Grand prize drawings will take place on August 17. The last day to claim prizes is August 21, while supplies last.
