A fountain pen writes on a page.

Simply put, libraries would not be here without writers. To have these amazing spaces full of books, we need people to write. Whether that’s children’s, young adult, fiction, non-fiction, poetry, short stories, whatever it may be, writers are intrinsic to libraries.

While I am not a writer myself outside of this blog, I have the privilege of working on our Author Talk team and helping with the Teen Writing Contest (held every November). The Author Talk team hosts authors, most of them local, and allows them a space to share their works with the world. The Teen Writing Contest allows teens in grades 6-12 to submit their works to staff, who judge them and award the top stories. Being on these teams means not only do I get to work with some fantastic writers, but I get to read their fantastic writing as well!
