What I like to read: I’ll try almost any type of book, but if it's big on TikTok, it's going to need to earn my trust. My favorites are usually literary fiction, horror, and nonfiction.

The last exciting thing I did: I went running outside (usually I’m a treadmill gurl), even though it was cold!

Currently reading: I just finished How the Other Half Eats by Priya Fielding-Singh and Mapping the Interior by Stephen Graham Jones.

How the Other Half Eats: the Untold Story of Food and Inequality in America by Priya Fielding-SinghMapping the Interior by Stephen Graham Jones

Authors I'll read anything they write: Shirley Jackson and Carson McCullers. Unfortunately, they won’t be coming out with new material anytime soon.

If I were a music genre, it would be: Shoegaze.

Myself described in three fictional characters: Tina Belcher from Bob’s Burgers, Lydia Deetz from Beetlejuice, Evelyn from The Mummy

My hobbies (other than reading!): Cross stitch, vegetable gardening, running, and traveling when I can. My last big trips were to Japan with my husband and Spain with a friend!

My favorite family tradition: Every Tuesday is movie night at our house, with my husband and I taking turns picking titles. We've made our way through some serious cinema (like those directed by Kurosawa and Fellini) as well as lots in the "how have I not seen this yet?" category (like Jurassic Park). We even have some themed months to keep it well-rounded: July is for non-English-language picks, and March is for movies directed by women.

Last fun fact I learned: “Emoticon” and “emoji” are not etymologically related.

My ideal reading setting is: A plush window nook on a rainy day, a mug of black coffee, and no plans.

My favorite quote from a book: "If you want to enjoy the rewards of being loved, you also have to submit to the mortifying ordeal of being known." - Tim Kreider, I Wrote This Book Because I Love You

My dream vacation would involve: Good carb-heavy food, good beverages, art museums, gardens, old cemeteries, and salty ocean air.
