Two Casts and One Winter Reading Program

In fifth grade, my brother broke his right wrist snowboarding. He was making his way down Daredevil Hill in my hometown when he went to ramp a tree stump, but fell and broke his wrist. Then, in sixth grade, he broke the same bone in his left wrist attempting the same ramp down Daredevil Hill.
Infer what you will about the merits or flaws of his character, but my brother chased thrills in winter. Snowboarding? Check. Polar camping? Check. Ice fishing? Check. I was the opposite. I was an inside winter girl in my youth. I liked to snuggle in with a good story and simply watch the weather outside.
If a winter reading program had been available to me in my younger years, I would have taken full advantage of it. That is my idea of winter fun.
Lucky for you, Siouxland Libraries is again hosting our Winter Reading Program! You can stop into any branch and pick up a BINGO card to win prizes and be entered into a grand prize drawing for a super soft llama blanket. The BINGO card is full of fun reading challenges such as attending a library program, reading a graphic novel, or picking a book based on its cover. Getting a BINGO wins you a finisher prize of a llama coffee mug or a color-changing cup.
Some good news is, even if you break a bone snowboarding, you can still participate in the reading program and chase winter reads.
To help you on your BINGO quest, here are a few curated lists.
Read a book with a text only cover.
Read a book with a map.
Read a book narrated by the author.
Read a first time author.
Read a book that is a TV series or movie.
Read a classic retold.
