The Downtown Library, then named the Sioux Falls Public Library, opened December 26, 1972. It underwent a major renovation between 2008-2010, adding 19,500 square feet to the building. New features included separate areas for babies, toddlers, children, and teens, along with a beautiful reading room that has a double-sided fireplace and glass walls.
