All Siouxland Libraries locations and Expanded Access will be closed Sunday, August 31, and Monday, September 1, in honor of Labor Day.
The Oak View Branch is temporarily closed due to remodeling. The branch anticipates re-opening in late December 2025.
From 1961-1972, library service in Colton was provided by a bookmobile delivering books to a bookshelf in the City Hall. The first Colton branch library building opened in 1972 on Main Street where City Hall is now located and was a part of the Minnehaha County Rural Public Library. It then occupied the space at 325 E Fourth Street before moving to its current location across the street at 402 S Dakota Ave. The current building was donated by the Farmer’s Elevator in 2013 and opened after renovations in 2014. The community raised money to pay for the new building.
