After a sizeable bequest to the library from Ruth Kennedy Caille after her passing in 1979, plans for a new branch moved forward. The Ruth Kennedy Caille Branch Library named in honor of the generous benefactor, opened its doors on October 10th, 1988. The library became known for its iconic train shelving unit, which was removed after a large renovation in 2016.
