The Bright Futures program, a partnership of the City of Sioux Falls Community Development Affordable Housing Division and Inter-Lakes Community Action Partnership, was created in 2011 to assist homeless and nearly homeless families with children. Since that time, 67 families have graduated from the program, and a recent study found that every $1 invested in the program yields a return of $8.36.
This program provides financial assistance to low- and moderate-income homeowners for replacement of older inefficient heating systems (less than 80% Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency).
Funds are provided to Sioux Falls Housing Corporation to buy older homes that contribute to neighborhood deterioration. After acquisition, these homes will be replaced or rehabilitated and sold.
This program helps stop deterioration of older neighborhoods, and provides more options to low-income homebuyers.
