Parks and Recreation to Share Future of Aquatic Facility Concepts

Sioux Falls Park and Recreation invites the public to planning meetings on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, where City officials will share initial concepts for replacement facilities.

Starting at 4 p.m., meetings for five aquatic facilities will happen on November 15 in one location, at Prairie Green Golf Course Clubhouse (600 East 69th Street). Below is the complete schedule:

  • 4 p.m. Terrace Park
  • 4:30 p.m. Laurel Oak Park
  • 5 p.m. McKennan Park
  • 6 p.m. Kuehn Park
  • 7 p.m. Frank Olson Park

All interested stakeholders are encouraged to attend and provide their insights for the future of aquatic facilities in Sioux Falls.

“Over the past few months, more than 1,200 people weighed in through public meetings and an online survey,” according to Parks Planning and Projects Manager Mike Patten. City officials used this feedback to create preliminary concepts to show potential solutions. Final solutions will be shared as the City looks to design these facilities next year. This is one touchpoint in the six-month community engagement process to guide the City as it plans, designs, improves, and builds aquatic facilities in Sioux Falls. Construction of these pool improvements would begin in 2024.
