Human Relations
Welcome
The Human Relations Office serves as a neutral branch of the City Attorney’s Office whose purpose is to safeguard equal opportunities for all residents of Sioux Falls. Our office promotes civil rights and strives to ensure an equitable environment free from discrimination. Our office upholds the Code of Ordinances of Sioux Falls, SD, Chapter 98, which prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, creed, religion, sex, national origin, ancestry, disability, or familial status in the areas of employment, housing, education, public accommodations, and public service. We are an impartial fact-finding agency that enforces such anti-discrimination laws by investigating and resolving allegations of illegal discrimination occurring in the City. Our office also seeks to prevent discrimination and create an equitable and inclusive community by educating members of the community regarding their rights and duties under Chapter 98 of the Code of Ordinances of Sioux Falls as well as related state and federal laws.
