Join in the Fun!

Siouxland Libraries is excited to partner with the Sioux Falls School District to encourage reading in our communities from March 13-31, 2023.

As Everybody Reads comes to a close, we have shut off the online form and will manually update the number of books read through the end of today. If you have last-minute books to be counted, please stop into your closest branch or call 605-367-8700. We will reveal the final number of books read next week.

Reading is important for everyone!

Benefits of reading include:

  • Stronger brain activity
  • Better communication skills
  • Expanding your world = learn about new places, people, and events
  • Becoming intellectually sound - the more you read, the more you know
  • Lower stress
  • Increased empathy

From March 13-31, help us create a Reading Galaxy by adding a star to our sky for each book you read. Our goal is 300,000 books and for each hundred thousand up to our goal, a donation will be made to REACH Literacy. What is REACH Literacy? REACH is a nonprofit that provides literacy instruction and experiences for adult and youth readers each year. Help us reach for the stars with REACH Literacy!

Each library location will have a space display that you can add a star to for every book you read. Customers will be encouraged to write the title of the book you read and your name on the star. Keep checking back throughout the month to see the sky fill with stars.

Siouxland Libraries will be posting pictures throughout the month on our social media. Follow us and post your reading pictures using the hashtag #everybodyreads
