Scan Day @ Your Library

Area residents who register for an appointment can bring their personal history―photos, letters, diaries, family histories, service records, and other historic or sentimental documents—to be scanned by the South Dakota State Library staff. The purpose of the event is to engage residents in building local and state history by sharing their items with the local library, museum, or South Dakota State Archives.

Participants will receive a complimentary copy on a USB flash drive.

Space is limited for this free program. Registration is required at or by calling 367-8700. If you cannot attend, please cancel your reservation as a courtesy to those on the wait list.

There will be three Sioux Falls sessions:

  • Wednesday, September 18, 2019, 11 a.m. to 5:15 p.m., Center for Western Studies, Augustana University, 2121 South Summit Avenue.
  • Thursday, September 19, 2019, 10 a.m. to 4:50 p.m., Siouxland Libraries’ Caille Branch, 4100 South Carnegie Circle.
  • Thursday, September 19, 2019, 10 a.m. to 4:50 p.m., Siouxland Libraries’ Ronning Branch, 3100 East 49th Street.

Forty-minute time slots will permit scanning of 10–15 items per person. Scrapbooks or booklets will take longer; participants may not be able to get everything they want scanned in the allotted time.
