Do you love to read? Do you love to talk about the books that you have read? So do we! Join other readers at the Life Book Club.

The May title is The Birth House by Ami McKay. Read a summary of the plot on the Library's website. There is a short biography of the author at www.thebirthhouse.com. Find the discussion questions on the Reading Guide on the Harper Collins' author website.

The Birth House is the story of a Nova Scotia midwife in the early 20th century. It is a fascinating historical novel about the conflict between midwives and the introduction of “clinical” birthing methods. Booklist says The Birth House is a “sensitively written novel of women’s birthing rituals, strengths, and friendships (that) will appeal to readers who enjoy gentle humor and plenty of homespun wisdom.”

Come and visit about the book with us! So grab a friend and meet us at Zandbroz Variety!
