Older adults are living historians. Bring back old memories and create new ones with Programs to Go. Multi-sensory kits focus on themes such as school days, railroads, fashion, pets, automobiles, and holidays.
What's in a Program to Go?
With the variety of materials in each kit, you can choose something for one short program, or use it all for a whole series of programs. Adapt the pieces to make the program just right for your group. Kits include:
- Audio-visual material - A set of slides with cassette, or video, or both
- Manual - A how-to-do-it guide with instructions on getting a program going, discussion questions, other resources
- Audio cassette - Vocal and piano accompaniment for sing-along songs, stories, mood music, or radio shows
- Booklets - Sing-along songs, poetry, photos, other discussion-starters all printed in large type
- Skits or jokes - Add a touch of humor to a program
- Things to touch - Shapes and textures to spark memories and encourage stories from older adults

Who can check out Programs to Go?
Programs to Go are available to all Siouxland Libraries cardholders. Older adults at senior centers, nursing homes, and churches will be especially interested in using Programs to Go, but they are also great for intergenerational programs with students, scout troops, youth groups, and families.
Availability
To search the Library Catalog for Programs to Go, perform a Series Title Keyword search for "Programs to Go" or simply click here. This will bring up all the Programs to Go titles. Under each title will be listed the availability and location of each bag. You may place a hold yourself or call the Library at 367-8720 and ask for staff assistance.
