In celebration of Read Across America and the March 2 birthday of children’s author and illustrator Dr. Seuss, Siouxland Libraries will hold a special storytime for preschoolers and their families featuring Dr. Seuss stories along with storyteller favorites.
Read Across America Storytime will be held at the following times and locations:
Tuesday, February 28: 10:05 a.m. at the Main Branch 10:15 a.m. at the Brandon Branch 10:30 a.m. at the Garretson Branch 10:30 a.m. at the Hartford Branch
Wednesday, February 29: 10:05 a.m. at the Ronning Branch 10:05 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. at the Caille and Oak View Branches 10:30 a.m. at the Crooks Branch 2:30 p.m. at the Baltic Branch 3:30 p.m. at the Colton Branch
Friday, March 2: 10:30 a.m. at the Humboldt Branch
Saturday, March 3: 11 a.m. at the Main Branch
In addition, the Crooks Branch will host a Dr. Seuss story and craft activity on Saturday, March 3, at 10:30 a.m. The Lorax will be read and children will be able to make their own Truffula Tree bookmarks.
Admission is free, but seating may be limited. Groups of ten or more must register in advance to attend by calling 367-8710.
Originally created by the National Education Association as a one-day event to celebrate the joy of reading on March 2, Read Across America has grown into a nationwide initiative promoting the importance of reading every day of the year.
