Variety of Mediums by Ed Baatz Featured at Downtown Library Art Gallery

Works by Sioux Falls artist Ed Baatz will be featured at the Downtown Library, 200 North Dakota Avenue, through July 31, 2018. The Library Gallery is open during regular hours: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Thursday; 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday; and 1 to 5 p.m., Sunday.

Baatz, who is retired, saw an ad for drawing lessons at Active Generations, “Two lessons for $5. The teacher, JoAnn Olsen, encouraged me and asked if I would like to learn to paint.”

“Since then,” Baatz continues, “I have tried various mediums―acrylic paints, wood burning, and relief carving are favorites.” He took up cottonwood bark carving after seeing a book on the topic displayed at the Ronning Branch.
